Your Opportunity
The role is to work as a team member on various projects under the guidance of a Resident Engineer (RE) or Construction Manager (CM). The role will work on challenging and diverse tasks in a consulting and construction management role that will require application of technical skills, project delivery, and leadership for construction projects. These projects consist of transit, highway, and other related infrastructure. This exciting opportunity provides excellent career growth opportunities.
The selected candidate will need to be self-directed, capable of independent tasks as well as supporting multidiscipline complex teams, and should demonstrate a passion for involvement in the industry with an enthusiasm for successful completion of projects that meet our clients’ needs.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Support the Client PM, Construction Manager, and Resident Engineer as needed.
- Support management of rail and transit-related facilities projects.
- Performs on technically complex projects and acts as a technical resource by providing guidance to other team members.
- Reviews own work for accuracy and coordinates with others to ensure quality assurance and quality control for all final products.
- Participates and collaborates in project team setting, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate ideas, design issues and solutions to others.
- Coordinate with the project team to maintain project documentation, process paperwork, and progress pay estimates.
- Coordinate construction administration issues.
- Review Submittals, RFIs, NCRs, COs, and pay estimates from the contractor.
- Monitor project schedule against progress in the field.
- Keep detailed records, including daily reports when in the field.
- Assist with environmental compliance, if needed.
- Assist in the resolution of project issues.
- Inform the CM, RE, Client and staff of project status.
- Assist with preparation of monthly and ad hoc reports.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Thorough knowledge of construction principles, techniques and procedures, occupational hazards, and safety precautions.
- Ability to effectively discuss project issues with contractors, project team and clients, including ability to resolve conflict situations.
- Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the project team, obtaining and sharing necessary information.
- Strong organizational skills and understanding of task assignments and schedule.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
- Willingness to learn new tasks such as environmental compliance.
- Working knowledge of critical path method scheduling.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Adobe, or BlueBeam. CAD (Computer Aided Design) experience is desirable but not required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, or other related field from an ABET accredited university.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working on construction projects for a contractor or as an owner’s representative.
- Hands-on experience with the inspection and contract administration of construction projects.
- Experience with traffic control and inspections of traffic control devices in the field.
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) preferred, Certified Construction Manager (CCM) can be substituted for a PE, will consider an EIT (Engineer in Training) at a minimum.
The position will work in an office setting; however, daily fieldwork will be required. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
