If this sounds like your perfect role, we would love to hear from you.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Regional Marketing Manager (RMM), the MTL provides marketing leadership and support to our Regional Business Leaders and local Business Center Leaders. Through a team of marketing professionals, the MTL works closely with multiple levels of business leadership to communicate a clear understanding of the region's strategic direction and deliver the annual integrated marketing and business plan to achieve the region’s financial and market leadership goals.

The role also includes working with a larger Stantec team of marketing, business development, public relations, and communications professionals to build our brand awareness and identify market opportunities for top-line growth.

Your Key Responsibilities:

Business Development/Account Management/Proposal Development

  • Engage with technical leadership and account managers in developing specific strategies for client and related event coordination, project opportunity/lead tracking, and provide marketing leadership on major or multi-disciplinary proposals in support of account management
  • Partner with RMM and technical leadership to develop key clients and project “must wins” to target in each operating year
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of Stantec's markets, clients, capabilities, staff, and primary competitors to support the development of pursuits as identified in the marketing and business development plans
  • Work with the regional marketing team and pursuit leaders/business developers to support cross-promotion of Stantec's various service offerings, where opportunities for the delivery of integrated services exist
  • Engage with leadership to assess Stantec’s market positioning at the regional level through primary and secondary market research and develop/implement communications strategies and plans to achieve the desired market positioning
  • Provide marketing leadership for all aspects related to the proposal process, including workflow coordination, marketing go/no go, resource requirements (e.g., identifying subject matter experts, external consultants, and related internal contributors), and technical content needs
  • Prepare high-impact proposals, presentations, and other communications in alignment with the Stantec brand
  • Work closely with technical project managers to create compelling messages that set our firm apart from the pack
  • Serve in a quality control capacity during the preparation and review of major client presentation materials developed regionally with specific emphasis on brand alignment, relevance, accuracy, and timely delivery
  • Provide marketing leadership for client presentations that include critiquing at dry runs and providing a final review on large proposal pursuits
  • Lead debriefs following project wins/losses on major pursuits
  • Monitor opportunity-related websites and publications for project opportunities and distribute them as appropriate
  • Attend, as appropriate, key business and community functions to represent Stantec’s leadership team in establishing and supporting Stantec’s leadership role in the local/regional business community
  • Assist the RMM as a champion and user-expert to ensure the consistent use of Stantec systems in support of account management and business development efforts
  • Work with regional leadership to ensure the regional must wins are recorded, updated, and reported as required by regional leadership

Brand Management/Promotions

  • Partner with the RMM and the region’s public relations representative to develop annual marketing and public relations strategies and plans to support marketing communications initiatives and events for the Region. This includes regional community engagement.
  • Work closely with the marketing communications coordinator, if applicable, and members of the corporate communications team, and function as a key contact for marketing communications information on behalf of the Region
  • Work closely with marketing resources, promotional/programs manager, and function as a key contact for marketing photography services on behalf of the Region, including, but not limited to advance documentation, e.g., client permission, project profiles, detailed photography requirements, and site accompaniment

  • Promote the consistent use of the Stantec Pipeline in support of account management and business development efforts

Marketing Team Leadership

  • Demonstrate teamwork with regional business line leadership, account managers, practice, local, and marketing leadership
  • Help in recruiting, motivating, and providing ongoing leadership, mentoring, and coaching to a smaller team of marketing professionals within the region who work directly with leadership and practitioners to implement and achieve the goals of the annual business plan
  • Responsible for the guidance, supervision, and performance of direct reports
  • Provide input and/or lead the hiring, evaluation, and termination of the regional marketing team
