The opportunity  

 

Stantec’s Buildings team in New Zealand delivers end-to-end projects for our clients, from feasibility and design through to construction, commissioning, and operation. Specialising in mission-critical facilities such as data centres and healthcare, our team of 100 brings expertise in mechanical, hydraulic, fire, electrical, civil, structural, and sustainability engineering to local projects. We’re proud to put user needs at the centre of every design.  

 

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our high performing team. We are ideally seeking a highly qualified candidate with experience across all project sizes from low rise to high rise building projects. We are involved in a broad range of project types that include data centres, health, laboratories, industrial, education and infrastructure. Youl will support the wider Mechanical team by providing technical expertise that drive positive project outcomes.  

 

Day to day tasks would involve: 

 

  • Conduct site surveys, field investigations and feasibility studies for proposed projects 

  • Produce calculations, specifications, and drawings (concept, preliminary, developed and detailed designs), proposals, and reports to ensure that technical content will provide the appropriate solution, with guidance and input provided from more experienced staff 

  • Maintain communication and develop ongoing contacts with clients as required 

  • Contribute to proposal and bid development to support business development activities, including preparing proposal material, and fee estimates as required 

  • Engage in providing budgeting and revenue expenditure input, and understand impact of work practices on the financial outcome of projects 

 

About you: 

  • Previous experience in a Consulting environment within the Building services industry  

  • Knowledge of the New Zealand Building Code and relevant Australian and New Zealand Standards  

  • Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, and ideally a minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience in the engineering industry or consulting. 

  • Willingness to establish and maintain strong client relationships to formulate repeat opportunities 

  • Ability to multitask between project involvement and section performance. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

  • Working towards being a Chartered Professional Engineer (or equivalent) and/or Producer Statement Author would be favourable, but not essential.
