Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • You will provide clients with engineering support to meet their needs and incorporate client suggestions for future requirements in a timely, efficient and cost effective manner.  This includes attending client meetings, which may at times be remote, as well as corresponding directly with the client.
  • You must be a self-starter with the ability to handle change and work with minimal supervision. You must be an introspective person who is willing to challenge your own work as well as the work of those around you.
  • You will allocate resources to satisfy project schedules and priorities and manage the simultaneous delivery of multiple projects, applying innovative approaches with regard to methodologies, designs and implementation formats to maximize the safety and quality of our work.
  • You will lead a team of engineers and designers in the planning and execution of project work including scoping, asset integrity assessments and as-built documentation, feasibility studies, detailed engineering and technical support during construction and commissioning.
  • You will regularly interface with other disciplines and departments to execute projects.
As the ideal candidate, you have:
  • Excellent knowledge of applicable design codes and familiarity with Mine Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, along with excellent interpersonal abilities and willingness to work in a team atmosphere including involvement in technical business development.
  • Previous experience as a Lead Engineer on detailed engineering/construction projects with a consulting firm or Owner’s team;
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and project engineering experience.
  • Ability to take the lead on a project team is essential.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites or other Stantec offices (~10% travel).
  • Previous experience in factory acceptance testing, brownfield condition assessments, commissioning, or operations support.
Technical expertise in one or more of the following areas is desired, with preference given in sequential order as follows:
 
Mine Services:
  • Specification and design of Dewatering, Fuel Delivery, Compressed Air, Process Water, Slurry systems, and selection of associated equipment;
  • Underground Infrastructure facilities design;
Mine Processing Plants:
  • Specification and design of Milling, Refining and Smelting operations, including solution mining and solvent extraction/electrowinning experience;
Experience with the following will also be considered as assets:
  • Mine Hoisting;
  • Mine Ventilation/Refrigeration;
  • Material Handling Systems;

Education and Experience

A Professional Engineering license in the State of Arizona.
10 - 15 years of engineering, design, and construction experience in heavy industry, particularly surface or underground mining.


Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
