- Self-starter, with the ability to manage change and work with minimal supervision. You must be a contemplative person who is willing to challenge your own work as well as the work of those around you.
- Experience which demonstrates supervisory skills and leadership abilities to complement technical experience.
- Previous experience as a Lead Engineer on detailed engineering/construction projects with a consulting firm or Owner’s team is preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of applicable design codes (ASME B31, API650, IPC, UBC, ASHRAE, SMACNA, etc) and familiarity with Mine Health and Safety Regulations.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, along with excellent interpersonal abilities and a willingness to work in a team atmosphere, including involvement in technical business development.
- Ability to take the lead on a project team and lead piping engineers and designers to successful completion of projects.
- Willingness to travel to client sites or other Stantec offices (~10% travel).
Education and Experience
- B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering
- A Professional Engineering license is required (or the ability to become licensed).
- 10+ years of engineering, design, and construction experience in heavy industry, particularly surface or underground mining.
- Previous experience in the following is desired:
- The design, specification, and installation supervision of industrial piping equipment/systems.
- Mine dewatering.
- Pumps.
- Compressors.
- Pressure piping/pumping applications, including slurries.
- Copper solution mining and/or SX/EW processing.
- Brownfield condition assessments, commissioning, and/or operations support.
- The design, specification, and installation supervision of industrial piping equipment/systems.
