Step into an exciting and high-impact opportunity as the National Growth Leader, where you’ll be a true “seller/doer”—driving the pursuit and delivery of exceptional solutions for our clients. Reporting directly to the Regional Water Director, you’ll be at the forefront, championing the expansion of Stantec’s Water Business and strengthening our market leadership across Australia. This dynamic role challenges you to not only grow our top line but also elevate our standards of innovation, design excellence, and client satisfaction. You’ll be instrumental in scaling our project portfolio, forging new client relationships, and positioning Stantec as the go-to leader in the industry. Together with Business Leaders, Market Leaders, and Group Leaders, you’ll provide operational, technical, and people leadership to a talented Water team, fueling our continued success and growth in Australia.
You’ll play a pivotal leadership role in propelling growth across all markets, regions, and disciplines, leveraging both organic and acquisitive strategies to create lasting impact.
As a strategic business leader, you’ll take on core responsibilities in strategic planning, market development, project execution, financial management, and the attraction and development of top talent—making a meaningful difference for our team, our clients, and the water solutions that shape the future of Australia.
Specifically, your duties will include:
Business Development and Collaboration:
Work with the Regional Director and Market Leaders to develop long-term growth strategies for the Water sector, aligned with national and global corporate growth strategies, including the development and execution of tactical plans.
Actively contribute to the growth of the Business Center through business development, key pursuits, and sales strategy.
- Lead and/or conduct strategic business development efforts, including market research, client and partner relationship mapping, developing leads, and securing contracts.
- Work with Business Leadership to identify business priorities and strategic opportunities in the Australian market.
- Actively contribute to capture planning and win strategies, for key pursuits including effective go/no‑go decisions, sales budget planning, win strategy development, risk reviews, and proposal support..
- Track pursuit success rate and return on investment rate on a client-by-client basis.
- Monitor market drivers, industry trends and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities and develop innovative responses that increase profitability and market share.
- Expand our reach and client base utilizing strong marketing, business development, and account management planning.
- Increase visibility of Stantec by sharing our knowledge and innovation story through key client engagements to enhance our reputation and drive revenue.
- Represent Stantec externally through thought leadership, conference presentations, industry participation, and active involvement in professional and industry associations
- Partner with Business Center, local, and regional leaders to drive collaboration on pursuits across geographies and business lines.
- Utilize, maintain, and monitor the opportunity pipeline to optimize business development plans and long-term revenue forecasting..
- Ensure local marketplace reputation through established relationships and support of leadership.
Project Focus:
- Actively participate in projects in senior leadership, governance or other key roles such as Project Director, Project Manager, and/or Independent Technical Reviewer, as required.
- Contribute (as appropriate) to successful project execution and become involved at a hands-on level on projects should issues impacting client satisfaction or project management arise.
- Conduct risk management related to projects including review of contracts, fees and variations in coordination with Project management and Commercial Leaders and Business Leaders.
- Pursue, win, and execute work that positively transforms our communities and challenges us as designers.
- Remain aware of local and global market conditions impacting our ability to win and deliver projects.
- Leverage global expertise to bring value to local clients.
People Leadership:
- Lead a team of national Market Leaders and Practice Leaders to deliver on growth strategies within their markets.
- In collaboration with leadership, identify capability, skills, and capacity gaps required to meet current and future market demands and growth opportunities.
- Support the Business Center with developing, attracting, engaging, and retaining top talent.
- Foster employee connectedness by interfacing frequently with employees.
- Participate in regular office and Business Center wide meetings to communicate the vision, business growth strategy and progress against applicable action plans.
- Support the overall talent management lifecycle including career development, employee engagement, succession planning, coaching, and mentoring, diversity and inclusion, and leadership development for the Business Center.
