About the role

Reporting to the Regional Director, the BCOL is primarily responsible for operational excellence for the Business Centre (BC)—achieving financial (bottom line) and performance objectives. With strong operational skills including effective management, decision making and leadership capabilities, the BCOL is responsible for optimising BC performance, including driving growth objectives and ensuring efficient resource management that is responsive to available workloads. In conjunction with the Regional Director the BCOL will prepare and implement annual operating budgets and BC business plans.

Day to day tasks would involve:

  • Act as a highly regarded leader, thought partner and a source of counsel and advice for the BC.
  • Manage the overall talent lifecycle including career development, employee engagement, succession planning, coaching and mentoring, and diversity and inclusion for the BC.
  • Accountable for continuous improvement and effective management of operational areas within the BC.
  • Review BC monthly financial statements, inclusive of discretionary spend and ensure any issues are actioned.
  • Regularly monitors forecasting, backlog, EVA, WIP, AFDA, DSO and utilisation to identify issues and ensure they are addressed.
  • Responsible for leading the BC’s annual budgeting process in collaboration with the Regional Director.
  • Responsible for the BC budget and achieving net revenue, gross margin, general and admin (G&A) expenses, and operating income targets.
  • Responsible for proactively identifying underperformance against established targets and developing and implementing improvement plans for underperforming operations within the BC.
  • Ensures efficient resource management that is responsive to available workloads.
  • Responsible for achieving utilisation rate and backlog targets including collaboration with other contributing BCs to drive up overall utilisation firmwide.
  • Partners with other BCOLs and key leaders to drive collaboration and work sharing across the regions.

To be successful for this role you'll need:

  • 15 years’ experience in consulting
  • Team leadership – demonstrated experience in successfully managing large teams (>30 people) 
  • Financial – P&L responsibility or ownership of KPIs for a region/sector and demonstrated experience and understanding of the financial levers in a consulting business and a proven ability to deliver results, whilst maintaining a focus on people
  • Commercial – a sound understanding of contracts and commercial arrangements on projects 
  • Project Management – demonstrated experience in managing and owning the performance of a large portfolio of projects and implementing recovery plans to address performance issues
  • Leadership – a proven ability to successfully manage internal stakeholders across multiple business line and functions to remove internal barriers and achieve a collaborative approach
