Your role is to work on a variety of projects as a team member. You will participate in the evaluation, recommendation, and specification for plumbing systems or products for a project verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards/practices.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Plumbing system design for new and existing health care, commercial, education and laboratory buildings.
- Assists in development and implementation of plumbing design concepts for plumbing systems which may include but not limited to, water systems, drainage systems and specialty gas systems.
- Participate in project coordination, client, consultant, owner, contractor, sub-contractor and vendors meetings.
- Assists plumbing staff with developing and managing the project scope, budget and schedule.
- Participates in the preparation of the project specifications with construction documents.
- Perform calculations of plumbing systems using company standard software.
- Review drawings and documents for accuracy prior to submittal.
- Participates in constructability review.
- Works on multiple projects while utilizing prioritization skills.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Group Leader and/or Engineering Discipline Leader.
- Conducts field surveys of existing conditions of building spaces.
- Prepares field reports and punch lists.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Requisite knowledge and application of the plumbing codes.
- Basic knowledgeable of the International Building Codes and experienced in working with various local and state codes throughout the country.
- General understanding of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
- Strong knowledge of plumbing systems means and methods, material, and industry standards.
- Recognizes when technical problems are developing and initiates appropriate corrective actions.
- Ability to check own work for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
- Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
- Understanding of plumbing concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
- Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD; Prefer experience with Newforma.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience preferred.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
