Power Sector Leader
Your Responsibilities
Reporting to the Power Business Leader, responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Help set the vision and lead the expansion of our energy & resources business within the Power Sector in western Canada
Identify business development opportunities consistent with the Power group’s vision and strategic plan
Provide effective leadership, technical direction and guidance to a team of professionals dedicated to growing our power business and further developing Stantec’s profile in the market place
Identify and oversee the development and implementation of “win” strategies, including client contact, proposal preparation, pricing strategies and preparation of and participation in client interviews
Identify and oversee the development and maintenance of a broad range of client relationships throughout the sector
Attract and retain specialized staff needed to secure and deliver sector specific expertise required for all phases of power projects
Identify and oversee the develop in-house expertise and methodologies (design, technical and quality standards, etc.) to advance our reputation and presence in the sector
Work with other business lines within Stantec to build an integrated service delivery team for the Power Sector
Establish and hold staff accountable to meet account management program targets for the Power Sector
The successful candidate will possess the following:
Strong understanding of the Power sector within Canada and North America, including specific expertise related to smart technologies, conventional and renewable energy generation, and transmission/distribution infrastructure.
Solid reputation and high level of personal and professional credibility based upon a solid understanding of the energy and resources aspects of the Power Sector through all stages of a project’s life cycle.
At least 15 years professional Power Sector experience, in progressively more senior positions. This could be with a variety of generation, transmission and/or distribution facility owners, or consulting service providers to the Power Sector, or a combination thereof.
Substantial previous experience in consulting and a solid background serving the needs of Power Sector clients.
Strong leadership and business development skills, including significant experience building and maintaining productive relationships with a Power Sector client base. Such experience within a consulting organization is considered a strong asset.
An entrepreneurial orientation with strong understanding of the business development challenges of a consulting services provider.
Experience with different contract execution strategies such as EPCM, EPC, and other APD strategies
Demonstrated technical skills and, ideally, advanced educational credentials.
