Your Opportunity
Stantec has an opportunity for a sector leadership position as the Ontario Power Sector Lead for our growing Environmental Services team in Ontario (currently 360 members). This project management and business development focused role will support the top line growth of business within the power sector. The successful candidate will help set the vision for how the environmental sector services practice grows its power sector business in Ontario. The Ontario Power Sector Lead will report to the Business Center Practice Leaders (BCPLs) in Ontario, as well as the Canadian National Power Sector Leader, and will also work collaboratively with Stantec’s Environmental Services Power Sector Team who has representation across Canada. This role will involve the development and execution of a power sector growth strategy.
We are looking for an Environmental Services practitioner who can undertake billable work while growing Stantec’s position within the Power Sector in Ontario. This position will be based in Ontario and require periodic travel within Ontario to Stantec offices and client offices to execute the sector growth strategy.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Drive client outreach (internally & externally)
- Lead and coordinate proposal development, proposal debriefs, backlog tracking, and client surveys
- Facilitate client events (i.e., technical updates, seminars)
- Attend industry events, such as conferences and/or tradeshows
- Assist BCPLs with business plans and collaborate with the leadership team to achieve key performance indicators
- Coordinate with the Power & Energy Business Operating Unit on synergistic opportunities
- Contribute to the development and execution of the national business strategy for Environmental Services, with accountability for Ontario region-specific strategies and priorities
- Lead growth in revenue and track progress using action registers and financial progress reporting
- Assist leadership with the training and mentorship of junior and intermediate staff to respond to proposal requests, liaise with clients, project scoping, and other business development initiatives
- Engage in technical project work, including project management, within your scope of technical expertise as required to support the project execution teams
- The proportion of time spent on technical project work will be variable, based on project backlogs, skill alignment, and ongoing discussion with the BCPLs
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Solid understanding of power project development
- Preference is given to candidates with working knowledge of the Ontario environmental services market and the Ontario power sector
- Strong leadership and mentorship skills
- Proven business development skills
- Excellence in verbal and written communication skills
- Works under minimal supervision with broad corporate guidelines
- Practitioner considered a subject matter expert who applies advanced practical and theoretical knowledge
- Exercises independent judgment, initiative, and in-depth evaluation of various factors for addressing and resolving unusual and complex issues or situations
Education and Experience
University degree with at least 10 years of professional experience
Experience leading environmental support for power projects of significant size and/or complexity, ideally in Ontario
Experience building and maintaining productive relationships with colleagues, clients, agencies, and Indigenous Nations
Seasoned project delivery experience, ideally in consulting services
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
