We have a great opportunity to join our Building Services team as a Principal Electrical Engineer.  The role is suited to a well skilled and proactive individual who enjoys being part of a highly collaborative team.

We are ideally seeking a highly qualified candidate with experience across all project sizes from low rise to high rise building projects. We are involved in a broad range of project types that include data centres, health, laboratories, industrial, education and infrastructure.

You will be involved with the management and strategic direction of all aspects of the Electrical Team for the Buildings Group, providing support to Project Engineers to ensure the team is consistently focused on delivery of technical excellence and keeping on track with quality, schedule, and budget. You will represent the company externally to our clients and play an active role in building and managing relationships, whilst reinforcing cultural behaviours across the Electrical Team and the New Zealand Buildings Group. You will enjoy a diverse position and will need to have the ability to multitask and share your time between project delivery, business development, section performance and management responsibilities.

Day to day tasks would involve:

  • Ensuring current and future workloads within the Electrical section achieve attainment of financial targets whilst contributing to high staff morale.
  • Electrical design for a range of building projects, providing reports, studies, design calculations, drawings and specifications.
  • Support and offer guidance to Project Engineers, Engineers and Graduate Engineers to enable them to perform successfully at all levels.
  • Ensuring that the Electrical Section maintains an appropriate level of service to key clients.
  • Design, documentation and superintendence including project review, liaison with client and consultant team, liaison with authorities, reporting, contract administration and quality audits.
  • Support and contribute to the discipline leadership teams and develop Stantec engineering systems.
  • Adhere to professional standards, ethics and Stantec quality procedures.

About you | E pā ana ki a koe
To be successful for this role you'll need:

  • Previous experience in a Consulting environment within the Building services industry 
  • Knowledge of the New Zealand Building Code and relevant Australian and New Zealand Standards 
  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or equivalent, and ideally a minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience in the engineering industry or consulting.
  • Willingness to establish and maintain strong client relationships to formulate repeat opportunities
  • Ability to multitask between project involvement and Section performance
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working towards being a Chartered Professional Engineer (or equivalent)
