Your Opportunity

The role of a process engineer is to work as a team member on small and large projects under the close guidance and supervision of a senior engineer/designer. You will have the opportunity to work with more senior design staff to evaluate, select, specify, and engineer systems or equipment for multidisciplinary projects. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include calculations, report preparation, and field work. You will assist more senior engineers/designers by performing routine aspects of engineering assignments and may assist in the analysis of proposed projects.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Performs general process engineering design tasks using knowledge of relevant software programs.
  • Works with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project under the direction of a senior engineer/ designer.
  • Performs field work as directed by a senior engineer/ designer.
  • Performs basic calculations to analyze and design process system components.
  • Assists with preparation of drawings, presentations, and reports.
  • Assists with engineering duties on projects of various complexity.
  • Assists with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions.
  • Assists in basic interpretation of and verifying design compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the senior engineering staff.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • 2-4 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Basic understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of process and mechanical engineering.
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Understanding of engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
  • Developing cooperative skills in working efficiently within a team.
  • Proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of CAD software and other relevant design software preferred.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to drive a motor vehicle, traverse hot/cold environments with sometimes varying terrain, use stationary ladders and steps at client facilities, wear/use personal protective equipment, and manage minimal lifting. 

Education and Experience

  • Four-year (minimum) degree in an appropriately related discipline, such as Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • Working knowledge of process and utility piping specifications and codes
  • Experience with oilseed processing, food plants, and/or industrial process design is a plus.

Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
