Procurement Manager Asia Pacific (CL6)

Location:  Main offices in NZ

Reporting to: Director Procurement Manager (BC 3192)

Direct Reports: Yes

Purpose of Position:

This position will provide oversight and direction for Procurement activities and spend associated with Stantec in the APAC region. Actively support the development and implementation of local, regional and global sourcing strategies. Translate strategy into objectives/action plans and drive execution of the objectives for the primary commodity groups included but not limited to: IT Hardware and Software, Telecommunications, Professional Services, Vehicle Fleet, Photocopier leases, Travel, Credit card and Expense Management and office facilities. Support the on-going management of the existing corporate procure to pay process, policy and systems projects including future procure to pay changes, supporting subconsultant prequalification process improvements, corporate T&E card and the corporate purchasing policy. Must be results-driven and experienced in leading people, thorough understanding Stantec’s procurement processes, achieving cost savings and cost avoidance targets, optimising the overall supply base and driving compliance to corporate programs, policies and preferred suppliers.

The individual will manage a small (2-4) team of Procurement.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for key commodity groups and administer policies and programs for the procurement of categories including but not limited to IT/Telco, Professional Services, Travel and Expenses, Facilities Management, Fleet. Provide leadership in on-going cost reduction programs and strategic sourcing initiatives and supply chain.

  • Develop and implement global sourcing strategy and process improvements with other regional procurement leaders

  • Provide for the evaluation and selection of suppliers using Stantec sourcing methodology to ensure a fair and objective selection process with an emphasis on quality, price, delivery, vendor diversity and service necessary to meet business requirements and ensuring compliance with ESG and sustainability standards.

  • Develop and support the roll out of consistent contract management practices and procedures to store, retrieve and track supplier agreements in order to minimize risk and prevent disruption to the operations.

  • Provide oversight to the creation, submission, approval and dispatch of purchase requisitions and purchase orders and ensure timely execution.

  • Develop key procure to pay metrics to measure and manage the performance of the regional procurement team including cost savings, cost avoidance, spend under management, process efficiency and effectiveness and value generation. Assist with the development of reporting on our procurement of goods and services from local Indigenous, social and diverse suppliers.

  • Perform supplier relationship management, developing and managing performance of critical suppliers, facilitating regular business reviews and conducting corrective actions.

  • Identify and develop new suppliers, maintain and improve relationships with existing suppliers and negotiate Domestic/Regional/Global supplier contracts.

  • Support implementation of global procure to pay processes, policies and systems and enforce and measure compliance. 

  • Lead our people to develop and achieve goals necessary to meet these objectives outlined above

Skills & Specifications

  • Degree in supply chain management, procurement, people and management or a related field of study 

  • Experience devising procurement strategies or managing procurement budgets

  • Proficiency in common data analysis tools
