Your Opportunity

As a Land Survey Project Manager, you will perform public record research and calculations to resolve property boundaries and rights of way; review survey technician’s work and serve as project manager on various sized survey projects. The role of a project manager is to use their technical understanding and experience to lead a project team on various survey projects to deliver exceptional quality, maintain high client satisfaction, and manage project financials. 

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate the technical aspects of projects.
  • Responsible for survey calculations, analysis and final map checking, abstracting title data, record drawings research, and client relations.
  • Sign and seal survey documents.
  • Monitor projects from initiation through delivery, interfacing with clients on technical and surveying matters.
  • Works directly with project team members, to include registered surveyors, engineers, and technical and survey staff.
  • Coordinate activities of field crews, including providing job assignments, information, direction, and daily checking of work production.
  • Write descriptions of property boundary surveys for use in deeds, leases, or other legal documents.
  • Develop and manage project scope, budget, staffing, and schedules.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration by being both an effective team leader and player.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Requires advanced knowledge of local survey laws, surveying principles, techniques and procedures, occupational hazards, and safety precautions.
  • Demonstrate advanced skills in survey processing software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective leader and communicator with team and clients. 
  • Well-developed understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of survey work.
  • Working knowledge of relevant technical software including AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Working knowledge of field instrumentation, GPS, and robotic total stations.
  • Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
  • Demonstrate strong math skills, including algebra and trigonometry.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Geomatics, Surveying or related field preferred.
  • Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) in the State of California
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Must be available to travel for out-of-town projects when needed.
