About the role

Stantec are currently involved in some of Sydney’s largest and exciting projects within a variety of industries and sectors including health, defence, commercial, land development, civil infrastructure and transport. We are currently looking for a Project Technical Lead to join our established and growing team. 

This role includes project design and delivery across a range of projects and sectors. Projects range from early concept design and master planning through to detailed design and construction documentation.

Successful applicants will have good technical design background, strong consulting engineering and project delivery skills over a range of areas including earthworks, roadworks, stormwater, sewer and water network design, including clear knowledge of standards and processes.

Responsibilities include:

  • Operate in the Task Manager (TM) function and Project Manager (PM) function (as required) on projects and provide required support to staff assisting on your projects to ensure clear direction, acceptable financial outcome, QA adherence, risk management and team morale.
  • Lead project team staff with regard to productivity expectation, performance feedback and information sharing with sensitivity to the individual personal circumstances of staff.
  • The adherence to professional standards, ethics and quality procedures and standards by the project team.
  • Participate in meetings with clients and other consultants.
  • Ideally have experience dealing with a range of clients and stakeholders including the private sector, local authorities and State government bodies
  • Self-management skills will be as important as your technical design and project management abilities
  • Prioritise workloads ensuring our Clients' needs are met whilst maintaining strong and trusting working relationships with your colleague's both within the group and across the wider Stantec team.
  • Build and develop your professional profile both internally and externally by consistently demonstrating an ability to successfully deliver projects.
  • Maintain an appropriate level of service to Clients and internal Project Managers.
  • Assist with project management and business development.
  • Support Project Leaders Managers in completing projects in terms of program, profitability, technical risk management and overall Client satisfaction.
  • Be accurate, diligent and professional.

To be successful for this role you'll need:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or equivalent with a minimum of 10 year’s relevant project technical experience in the consulting or engineering industry
  • Experience in the civil related design and delivery of land development and building projects.
  • Experience in CAD based design platforms is preferred
  • Ability to use initiative and think outside the box
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines
  • Attention to detail
