Education, Experience, and Credentials

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in journalism, public relations, agricultural communications, political science, English, or a closely related field. Professional experience serving as a technical facilitator may be a substitute for coursework in an unrelated field. 
  • Five or more years professional experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with a demonstrated ability to adapt to different audiences. 
  • Strong interpersonal and entrepreneurial abilities and a proven track record for working independently was well as part of a diverse team of staff, clients, and interested parties.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and management projects and teams, including supervision of direct reports.

Experience in the following subject matter areas preferred, but not required

  • California water resources (including river systems/water-related infrastructure and applicable laws/policies/regulations) and federal planning processes.
  • Surface water, groundwater, and recycled water supply projects.
  • Flood management and conveyance.
  • Natural resource management and environmental restoration.
  • Western U.S. water resources industry, infrastructure and applicable laws, policies, and regulations.
  • California Native American Tribes, environmental justice, and disadvantaged communities.

Experience in the following technical areas preferred, but not required

  • Technical writing and editing of complex integrated water resource programs and projects. 
  • Major marketing campaigns and new business development.
  • Multimedia marketing and advertising campaigns.
  • Fluent in Spanish (written and spoken)
