Renewables Engineering Consultant

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Minimum of 5 years’ renewables electrical design experience and 3 years’ experience  in leading electrical design on utility scale renewables projects.
  
• Self-starter, skilled and experienced in navigating engineering design concerns and developing project scope documents, technical reports, cost estimating and project proposals.
  
• Participate and collaborate in a project team setting to engage in creative and critical thought.
  
• Comprehensive understanding of design standards and codes related to renewables and for electrical power systems.
  
• Knowledge of industry standards and electrical engineering design principles.
  
• Experience in developing all phases of renewables engineering design packages.
  
• Knowledge of renewable energy systems, including photovoltaic (PV), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and microgrids. Experience with Onshore Wind, Offshore Wind and other forms of conventional generation would be an asset.
  
• Familiar with design and operation of power systems ranging from 120V to 35kV distribution and 69kV – 500 kV transmission systems .
  
• Knowledge, interpretation, and application of Canadian Electrical Code, National Electrical Code, and applicable energy codes.
  
• Familiarity with AutoCAD is an asset
  
• Advanced oral and written communication skills.
  
• Presentation and interview skills would be an asset.
  
• Team player, collaborator with interpersonal skills with experience in managing and coordinating people.
  
• Knowledge of multi-discipline engineering services related to renewable projects.
  
• Experience in supporting proposal development.
  
• Demonstrated leadership competencies.
  
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work across multiple offices and geographies.
  
• Problem-solving skills.
  
• Ability to travel to US and Canadian offices and client sites, as required.
  
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, organizationals skills and aptitude for problem solving and willing to have challenging conversations.
  
• Proficient in the Microsoft 365 platform including Teams and SharePoint. Expert skills in Microsoft Excel would be a benefit.
  
• Experience and proficiency using ETAP, PVSyst, PVCase, HelioScope and Homer would  be beneficial.
  
• Must have a good driving record and valid Driver's License. 
  
• Prior to employment with Stantec, this position will require the successful passing of a drug & alcohol screen
  

Education and Experience

• Preferred B.S. or Engineering Technologist in Electrical, or related fields.
• Minimum of 7 experience working on engineering design projects and 5 years working on utility scale renewables projects and 3 years leading electrical design for utility scale solar and BESS projects.
  
• Ability to be registered as a PE or certified engineering technologist is preferred.
