Your Opportunity
An opportunity exists for a Senior Analyst, Taxation to join our team to assist in the US income tax with a focus on state and local and indirect income taxes. The Senior Analyst, Taxation will provide support in the day-to-day operations as part of the US Tax Team. This position reports to the Director, Taxation in the US and will work closely with financial staff from all the Company’s regions.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Prepare/review monthly, quarterly, and annually filed sales and use or gross receipts tax returns.
- Prepare/review property tax returns.
- Update and maintain tax basis fixed assets in Netstaff CS, a Thomson Reuters application.
- Review tax notices and determine resolution required.
- Prepare/review other indirect tax returns as required by local jurisdictions.
- Respond/review requests from CSC to timely renew business licenses.
- Initiate payments as necessary for the various indirect tax returns.
- Prepare and record journal entries in Oracle.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Mentor Analyst on various tax topics and processes.
- Prepare/review supporting workpapers for state and city income tax apportionment.
- Prepare/review supporting workpapers for state and city income tax returns.
- Prepare state and city income tax returns.
- Prepare quarterly estimates and the extension for state and city income tax.
- Assist with federal income tax return workpaper and return preparation.
- Assist with the quarterly and year-end tax provisions.
- Other tax duties as required.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Extensive knowledge of US federal and state corporate taxation.
- Working knowledge of sales and use, property tax, and other indirect local taxation.
- Experience with Oracle or other large Enterprise systems would be an asset.
- Experience with OneSource or other tax compliance software would be an asset.
- Intermediate to advance proficiency in Excel.
- Ability to work either as part of a team or independently with a full range of staff.
- Ability to work independently to company deadlines and to manage multiple competing priorities.
- Independently organize and prioritize workload to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
- Highly competent communication skills, including written and oral.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
Education and Experience
- An accounting degree or diploma (or equivalent experience) is required.
- 3-4 years of experience in accounting for income taxes and tax return compliance, in a public accounting firm or equivalent industry experience.
