Your Opportunity
Stantec is looking for a skilled Senior Audiovisual Engineer who possesses a deep understanding and knowledge of various audiovisual systems for the built environment including, but with a specialty and concentration in audiovisual systems for Federal, Transportation, Education, Command and Control, Performing Arts, Civic/Judicial, Corporate, Broadcast, Retail, Hospitality, Healthcare, and Mixed-Use markets.
With this knowledge, they provide leadership and apply consulting skills into each client interaction, translating client and owner requirements into the production of drawings, specifications, cost opinions, technical reports and assessments. The senior technology consultant possesses extensive experience and understanding of the different design delivery processes found in the Architectural/ Engineering/ Construction industry. This position will lead and or be part of multi-disciplined design teams for various sized projects. Excellent client communication and relationship skills are required. This is not a people manager role.
Your Key Responsibilities
Client Consulting and Project Involvement:
- Consult with clients on analysis of present technologies and develop solutions for client operational needs. Includes both strategic planning and development of long-range plans, as well as recommend near-term improvements to existing audiovisual systems.
- Prepare written recommendations and reports to clients.
- Applies buildings engineering and project management knowledge while leading cross-functional resources to meet project requirements within established timeframes and budgets.
- Holds project team members accountable for deliverables.
- Meets technical, contractual, schedule, budgetary and client service objectives for each project.
- Applies strong technical skills, experience and knowledge to the design and oversight of the design, for building projects.
- Designs technology systems for the built environment, Audiovisual plan drawings, systems single line drawings and technical specifications. Audiovisual systems include but are not limited to:
- DvLED Systems
- AVoIP Systems
- Broadcast Systems
- Performance Audio Systems
- Voice Lift Systems
- Audio, Video, Web Based Conferencing Systems
- Program Audio Systems
- Video Projection
- Control Systems
- Command and Control AV Systems
- Paging Systems
- IP and CATV Systems
- DvLED Systems
- Manages and plans the production resources and workflow to produce the design documentation and drawings for audiovisual projects.
- Maintains a holistic view of complex technical solutions being designed and implemented by teams of engineers.
- Provides site inspection and implementation management for technology systems.
- Represents clients in communications with government agencies, commercial organizations and healthcare organizations.
- Act as a QC reviewer on projects.
Other Key Responsibilities:
- Staff Mentorship and Development
- Conducts in-house training for area of technical expertise.
- Maintains awareness of operational, technical or regulatory changes and improvements within government, commercial and healthcare environments and the information transport industry relating to audiovisual systems.
- Develops and maintains reference materials related to their area of expertise. Prepares white papers and articles for industry publication on technical issues.
- Assist the Audiovisual Team Leader in the development policy and procedures for the advancement of the discipline.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
Deep understanding and knowledge of the following:
- Audiovisual systems for the built environment.
- Audio and Video distribution and processing systems.
- Voice and program audio reinforcement.
- Distributed audio, background music, and paging systems.
- Audio/video conferencing and distance learning systems.
- Video projection and display systems.
- CATV, IPTV Systems.
- Digital Signage.
- Audiovisual control systems.
- Network systems and protocols as the related to audiovisual systems.
- Successful history of collaboration and teaming with audiovisual and electrical contractors on Design-Build projects.
- Experience in the construction industry and/or in-depth knowledge of construction processes.
- Strong knowledge of applicable codes and technology standards.
- Ability to integrate design elements with other disciplines to deliver a coordinated design.
- Skill in researching and writing technical papers and reports and effectively communicating the information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated interpersonal communications skills and client or customer service experience/skills. Ability to effectively communicate in written and oral form and able to comprehend complex oral and written direction.
- Strong understanding and experience with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Ability to multi-task and operate within critical timelines. Applies logic, reasoning, and organizational skills to structure concepts and ideas into deliverables.
- Maintains a high degree of competency and familiarity within the industry with respect to products, services, and standards.
- Capable of managing several project assignments concurrently.
- Attention to detail.
- Functional knowledge of Revit.
- Must have valid driver’s license and clean MVR.
Your Education and Experience
- Bachelors' degree in related field plus 7-10 years related professional experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated skills.
- Training and professional experience in AEC Consulting.
- Extensive owner-directed consulting experience.
- CTS, CTS-D or CTS-I certification preferred.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the staff member is regularly required to use hands and fingers and reach with hands and arms. The staff member frequently is required to sit, talk and hear. The staff member is frequently required to visit and navigate existing facilities and construction sites, which often requires the ability to walk and climb. The staff member must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The staff member must occasionally operate a motor vehicle.
Office Location and Schedule:
This position will exist in the Seattle Area. Candidates in Denver, San Francisco and Los Angeles will also be considered.
This position will have a flexible schedule requiring (3) days in the office, and (2) days working from home.
