Senior Civil/Structural Engineer

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Requisite knowledge, interpretation, and application of structural design codes, standards, and applicable building codes
• Perform building code studies and/or engage our Architectural group depending on code study complexity
• Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications
• Strong knowledge of structural systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards
• Ability to lead one or more teams through all phases of project document production
• Checks the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manages time to meet project budget and schedule
• Participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought
• Thorough understanding of structural engineering concepts and ability to communicate ideas to others
• Well-developed understanding of other discipline scope, skills and responsibilities in order to mitigate project exaction gaps between CS and other interacting disciplines
• Anticipate various Client stakeholder needs and raise potential mis-alignment from project base scope early to minimize impacts of scope changes
• Strong presentation and interview skills
• Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite
• Requires experience using structural engineering/finite element analysis software such as STAAD, S-Frame, SAP2000, Dyna 6, LPile
• Experience with Abaqus is considered an asset
• Demonstrated business development and marketing skills
• Demonstrated leadership experience in professional engineering organizations or equivalent at the professional level

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Licensed Professional Engineer required. 
  Minimum of 12 years of experience.
  
  

Typical office environment working with computers; Stantec offers a flexible work environment (a hybrid model of working in the office and at home). Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
