Senior Electrical & Instrumentation Designer

Your Capabilities and Credentials 

• Requisite knowledge and application of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable industry standards
• General understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications
• Strong understanding of electrical, and control systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards.  Experience with designing include, but is not limited to DCS, PLC, MCC, medium/ low voltage controls, particularly in the power and heavy industrial facilities
• Capable of managing task assignments, scope, schedule and business - A working knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD 2D & 3D or newer programs
• Understanding of project management principles and processes would be an asset.  Ability to work closely with Project Managers, adhere to budget guidelines, schedules and client specifications in the course of design development
• Must demonstrate organizational skills and the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (strong oral and written) and a strong attention to detail.  Coordinates with other disciplines (mechanical, structural, etc.) to ensure compatibility with the design intent.  Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.  Participates in constructability review
• Mentoring and professional development of other personnel

Education and Experience 

Technical degree/ diploma/ certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Minimum of 10 years of experience.

Typical office environment working with computers and sitting at a desk. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
