Your Opportunity

We have an immediate opportunity for a Senior Field Technician (Site Investigation, Remediation & Response) to join our dynamic Environmental Services team in Saskatchewan (Regina or Saskatoon office). As a key member of the team, you will work with the team to further solidify our project delivery and technical excellence, as well as work with senior management to help determine the future direction of the group. Your Key Responsibilities

  • Actively participating in promoting a strong health and safety culture in the team
  • Perform field work as directed including supporting and conducting site assessments (Phase I ESA, Phase II ESA)
  • Provide mentorship and training to more junior field staff.
  • Support remediation projects (including both in-situ and ex-situ remediation programs)
  • Support Emergency Spill Response Projects and support Environmental Management Team with tasks including environmental monitoring on projects.
  • Conduct both groundwater and surface water sampling along with drilling programs, soil logging and sampling.
  • Assist with basic environmental assessment duties on projects of various complexity.
  • Assist with onsite construction observation, contractor coordination, and daily inspection reports.
  • Able to liaise between clients, contractors, municipal officials and third parties on-site.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • An experienced senior professional who consistently applies advanced practical knowledge to deliver results.
  • Solid understanding of all phases of engineering or soil sciences document production
  • Knowledge of sampling techniques (soil, groundwater, surface water), as well as testing/sampling protocols
  • Knowledge of technical specifications, GIS mapping and analysis
  • Working understanding of policies and procedures for HSSE, including client-specific training (as required)
  • Strong documentation, note-taking skills, attention to detail.
  • Ability to check work for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
  • Recognizes when technical problems are developing and initiates appropriate corrective actions.
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Ability to take initiative and direct sub-contractors, drive investigations and remediation programs.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional and positive manner, both in writing and in person, with clients, employees, and visitors
  • A strong affinity for teamwork and training/mentoring junior field staff is also essential for this position.
  • Candidates should include list of valid health and safety certificates on their resume, such as any first aid and CPR training, off-road vehicle training, ground disturbance training, and any other current courses.

Education and Experience

  • Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of related experience in contaminated sites, delivering outstanding technical solutions on projects in Saskatchewan is required.  
  • Valid driver's license and drivers abstract required.

Typical office environment working with computers. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
