Senior Fire Protection Engineer

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Self-motivated, problem-solving, and solution-oriented, with a high level of accountability
• Ability to assess conditions of existing systems, analyze performance, and Code conformance
• Comfortable preparing written reports with cost estimates
• Competent in design calculations for fire protection systems
• Experience with completing drawings and specifications
• Able to undertake site review and verification of systems
• Strong communication skills for advising clients on recommended fire protection system features
  Working knowledge of provincial and national building and fire codes, standards, and best practice guidelines related to the storage, use, and handling of hazardous materials
  Passion to continue to learn and excellent communication skills are required
• Knowledge of the fundamental principles of fire dynamics, the behavior of materials in fire, and human behavior in fire is desired

Education and Experience

Degree in Engineering (fire safety/protection preferred, however, mechanical or electrical is also acceptable)
May consider an Engineering Degree, a Diploma in fire protection engineering technology, or a Diploma in mechanical or electrical engineering technology
Minimum 6 years of relevant experience, consulting experience preferred; however, design experience in a contractor environment may be considered
Experience in fire protection system design, fire alarm system design, or related systems design

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
