Your Opportunity
We are looking for a Professional Senior Hydrogeologist to join our Water team in one of our North Central regional offices (Indianapolis, Indiana; Cincinnati, Ohio; Columbus, Ohio; Cleveland, Ohio; Ann Arbor, Michigan; Minneapolis, Minnesota). Professional Geologist license required.
The Hydrogeologist would be involved in a variety of projects related to hydrogeologic assessment, groundwater supply development, and groundwater protection and management, and will be developing client relationships and proposals associated with water resources project work. The applicant also will be responsible for both managing and mentoring staff and acting as a subject matter expert and liaison between Stantec clients and the hydrogeological group.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Develop conceptual, analytical, and numerical groundwater flow and contaminant transport models to support remedial evaluations and risk assessments.
- Interpret aquifer tests, characterize aquifers based on maps and other spatial data, and perform spatial analysis using GIS tools.
- Support water supply planning and water use permitting.
- Plan, coordinate and conduct field explorations in support of hydrogeology studies including drilling, well construction, groundwater sampling and testing, and installation of injection, ASR, production, and monitoring wells.
- Map and interpret surface geology features.
- Hydrogeologic assessment for municipal and industrial infrastructure projects.
- Hydrogeologic investigations for assessment for environmental impact assessments.
- Aquifer testing (slug tests and pump tests).
- Prepare proposals, develop work plans, schedules and budgets, and management of tasks.
- Prepare technical reports documenting field investigations, model development and results, and analytical results.
- Prepare and deliver presentations of hydrogeologic investigations to internal and external clients.
- Assist project managers with developing project budgets, determining project scope, and establishing project schedules.
- Collaborate with other scientific and engineering professionals within the practice.
- Business development to expand hydrogeological projects.

- Familiarity with local practice and markets is considered an asset.
- Strong abilities with software and computer modeling.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
- Experience in hydrogeologic analysis and interpretation.
- Experience in evaluation of soil and groundwater chemistry (organic and inorganic).
- Working knowledge of evaluating groundwater data with respect to environmental regulations.
Education and Experience
- A university degree in geoscience or environmental engineering with a focus on hydrogeology (a master’s degree would be considered an asset)
- >15 years of experience in hydrogeology
- Professional Geologist License
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
