Senior Mechanical Engineer
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Engineering experience supporting projects from conception through construction in the energy and resources sector in the energy and resources sector.
- Experience working in the following fields is considered a strong asset:
- Gas compression/transmission systems
- Oil-Seed processing facilities
- Hydrogen systems and hydrogen compression
- Carbon capture and carbon capture systems
- Oil sands and In-Situ oil extraction and transmission
- Mining and material handling
- Experience with industry standards and applicable ASME, CSA, API, ANSI, NACE codes and standards.
- Understanding of mechanical engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
- Understanding of various equipment such as vessels, tanks, heat exchangers & coolers, heaters, steam generators, rotating equipment (pumps and compressors), packaged equipment, valves & specialty items.
- Metallurgical experience is considered an asset.
- Integrate continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.
- Consulting skills including ability to provide project status and results.
- Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting.
- General understanding of all phases of project document preparation.
- Experience working with project deliverables such as Process Flow Diagram, P&ID, Isometrics, and General Arrangement Drawings.
- Mentoring skills and desire to work with and encourage junior staff.
- Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple jobs/projects.
- Strong critical thinking skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to write clear, thorough technical reports.
- Knowledge of and ability to use standard computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of construction techniques and processes is an asset.
- EPCM or fabrication shop experience is an asset.
- Field experience is an asset.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant engineering experience with an engineering contractor and/or other industry entity with an emphasis on compression projects.
- Licensed Professional Engineer with APEGA with registration in other jurisdictions, specifically EGBC and/or APEGS, is a strong asset.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
