We are looking for a driven individual to strengthen and grow our Mechanical Discipline across New Zealand.
You will be based in our Christchurch office situated within walking distance to the CBD and the culture and lifestyle it offers.
This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer looking for the growth in their career. You will get to work alongside our Senior & Principal engineers to support the business and ensure your own development. You will join a team that works on Water infrastructure projects, not only locally, but across New Zealand and the wider Asia Pacific region.

What you need to bring
Our preferred candidate for this role will have proven technical experience in diverse aspects of Mechanical Engineering for water infrastructure projects.
- Be a people person, with exceptional communication skills and the technical understanding in your discipline.
- Proven experience in leading diverse teams and managing resources.
- You will understand and be able to operate software requirements of AutoCAD and Revit.
- Experience dealing with a range of clients and stakeholders including local authorities, government bodies and commercial companies.
- A solid background with construction management and construction administration (CMCA) services in accordance with NZ3910.
- In this exciting position, your own self-management skills will be as important as your technical and project management ones. You will need to be able to prioritise workloads whilst maintaining strong and trusting working relationships with our clients' and colleague's both locally and across the broader Stantec team.
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- Have the ability to work successfully with remote teams to deliver projects to local clients.
- Key requirements are a BE Mechanical or equivalent, plus a minimum of 10 years professional experience in the consulting or engineering industry.
- Looking to achieve CPEng or equivalent
