Your Opportunity
Stantec’s Innovation, Smart(ER) Mobility, and Urban Places Practices are seeking a Senior Mobility expert to lead multidisciplinary projects that include policy experts, planners, urban designers, landscape architects, architects, civil engineers, future mobility, and other support experts on a wide variety of projects with both public and private entities. Future and shared mobility, sustainability, equity, and resilience strategies form a major part of our work for the transportation innovation team.
The successful candidate will support multiple practice groups including the Policy and Regulatory Practice with a focus on emerging transportation technologies, intelligent transportation solutions (ITS), autonomous vehicles, and zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs). Our Smart(ER) Mobility team collaborates closely with our Urban Places projects and works with our clients across disciplines to develop mobility strategies which link resilience, placemaking, economic development, infrastructure, and well-being in new and innovative ways. In addition, you will be supporting the development of new regulatory approaches and standards for the next generation of transportation. Our portfolio includes local municipalities and other public agencies, large institutions, and private developers.
Your Key Responsibilities
The tasks for this position are anticipated to include the following:
- Support strategic planning and support interdisciplinary public and private sector assignments for next generation transportation and smart city development.
- Provide management oversight on transportation, community development, architecture, and landscape architecture projects.
- Lead teams through all phases of a project lifecycle as Project Manager.
- Provide oversight and leadership on analysis, design reports, and master plan level graphics and narrative for assigned projects.
- Support planning, scheduling, production, and coordination on the design and technical aspects of assigned projects.
- Provide oversight and quality control reviews of design development and construction documentation preparation for interdisciplinary assignments.
- Directs, plans, and lead client presentations for assigned projects.
- Mentor local Urban Places, Smart(ER) Mobility, and Planning staff.
- Manage financial targets and revenue growth through client outreach and engagement in conjunction with our interdisciplinary team of professionals.
- Drive business development. Identify and pursue key leads and opportunities and engage staff in research, go-no go reviews, and pursuit strategies.
- Provide project and task assistance to projects involving transportation technology and innovation, including both external deployments and internal governance.
- Build new and foster existing relationships with major clients and seek, pursue, and procure exciting projects as lead and in collaboration with our dynamic and diversified team of professionals.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Technical expert in all relevant areas of design and understanding of various design methods and policy for emerging transportation technologies.
- Demonstrated understanding of community engagement tools and techniques, environmental and social justice’s approach.
- Highly effective in building and maintaining client relationships.
- Thorough understanding of codes, legal and design requirements with significant local jurisdictional experience and established contacts
- Effective communicator and leader with the ability to work on and lead teams.
- Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
- Comfort and ability with public speaking and engaging with transportation focused coalitions and national organizations.
- Working knowledge of relevant drafting/design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, InDesign, and Adobe Acrobat
- Professional Engineering (PE) License or other Professional Licenses/Certifications including AICP, RA, or RLA would be a plus.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years relevant experience
