Your Key Responsibilities
- As a Principal, support planning, scheduling, performing and coordinating the design and technical aspects of assigned projects.
- Manage and lead our interdisciplinary team on high profile assignments.
- Perform or assist Project Managers with managing and monitoring project financial performance.
- Direct plans and reports and lead client presentations.
- Drive business development. Identify key leads and opportunities and engage staff in research, go-no go reviews, and pursuit strategies.
- Lead design, technical and fee proposals.
- Provide staff leadership and inter-office collaboration throughout the Gulf Region Offices, from your home office in Tampa. Florida.
- Conduct client outreach and engagement with our team of professionals in the Gulf Region.
- Collaborate regularly with practice leadership in Urban Places, Buildings/Architecture, and Landscape Architecture.
- Work effectively in both the public and private sectors, and across a variety of markets including municipal, urban mixed use, healthcare, corporate/office, transportation/TOD, and residential.
- Perform site analysis and design concept development including digital and/or hand-illustrated deliverables suitable to communicate design intent to clients and staff.
- Provide oversight of design development and construction documentation preparation for interdisciplinary assignments.
- Provide oversight and leadership on analysis, design reports and master plan level graphics and narrative.
- Provide design and thought leadership for public realm and infrastructure design in urban environments.
- Mentor junior, mid-level and senior staff as needed and as staff relationships develop.
- Gain industry recognition as a Stantec Principal through professional organizations, conference presentations, social media and award-winning work.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Proven track record in pursuing and winning large scale planning, urban design and landscape architecture projects.
- Excellent creative and critical thinking skills.
- Effective communication, presentation and collaboration skills.
- Ability to communicate design concepts via hand-drawn and/or computer-generated graphics.
- Ability to lead and manage interdisciplinary teams to successful project outcomes.
- Ability to recruit and retain staff.
- Effective project management skills and track record of meeting/exceeding firm financial metrics at project and departmental levels.
- Ability to cross sell and effectively collaborate across disciplines including architecture, engineering, planning, landscape architecture, and environmental services.
- Willingness to travel within the State of Florida, US Southeast, and US Southwest as project opportunities arise (potentially 1- to 2-day duration, approximately 1- to 2-times per month).
- Active engagement in professional organizations, including leadership roles
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture and/or Architecture.
- 20+ years of relevant experience, including 5+ in a leadership role.
- Licensed and/or certified professional in landscape architecture, architecture and/or planning.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
