Your Opportunity

Our Water business is rapidly growing, and we are seeking a Senior Practice Leader to support our Texas operations with an emphasis on growing Texas accounts, executing projects  and development of high performing teams.  Stantec’s Water Team pursues and executes water treatment, wastewater treatment, conveyance, stormwater, industrial water. coastal protection/restoration and water resource projects of varying size and complexity.  This is a senior-level position that will use their industry knowledge, client relationships and leadership capabilities to assist in setting the direction of our regional business, providing leadership to our local teams and supporting the development and growth of our business.  The role involves identifying, developing, pursuing, and winning projects with new and existing clientele.  The position will also assist in the execution and delivery of technically complex projects through the full project lifecycle.  The successful candidate will be someone with strong leadership and communication skills, market knowledge, business acumen, and a successful history of client relations, account management and leading a diverse business team.

Your Key Responsibilities 

  • Develop long-lasting and strategic partnerships with existing and new clients with a focus in the Houston Metro water market, including key account management responsibilities.
  • Develop and implement a local strategy to expand Stantec’s market share and reputation as a trusted partner to Harris County and Harris County Flood Control District
  • Develop a clear vision and mission for the firm’s water resources and infrastructure programs in the Houston area.
  • Participating and leading market and business development meetings and client relations.
  • Development and contribution to an annual business plan and accountability to the execution of strategic initiatives targeted to the Houston area market.
  • Working collaboratively across business lines to understand our client’s needs and facilitate full-service offerings, including Innovation Technology and Management Technology Consulting
  • Contribute to the branding and reputation of Stantec in the Houston market thru leadership and involvement in related industry organizations and professional societies.
  • Project delivery and quality oversight of complex water projects across multiple sectors, serving as Sr Project Manager, Sr Technical Leader or Principal-in-Charge capacities to meet Utilization Goal of 50%.
  • Contribute to the growth of Houston office thru talent recruitment, development, and mentoring. 
  • Develop and maintain a strong business culture that reinforces our corporate values and is supportive of our team’s needs.
  • Serve as direct supervisor for staff in Houston and surrounding areas.
  • Foster partnerships with universities and research institutions to advance innovation and knowledge sharing.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to evaluate project and office performance, making adjustments as needed to meet goals
  • Ability to travel as needed to fill role responsibilities. 
  • Promoting a strong culture of health and safety.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Regional market knowledge and strong account management performance
  • Strong business development skills with an entrepreneurial orientation, including experience developing and maintaining productive relationships with a client base.
  • Successful experience in responding to Requests for Qualifications, Requests for Proposals and Statements of Qualifications.
  • Experience leading and developing teams with end responsibility for organizational goals
  • Strong leadership, team building and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects with an emphasis on technical and project delivery excellence.
  • Passion for water resources related projects.
  • United States Citizen or Permanent Resident

Education and Experience

  • BS with at least 20 years of professional experience in related fields. 
  • Licensed professional engineer and ability to obtain reciprocity in required states.
