Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join our highly successful water practice in Burnaby, BC. Stantec's Burnaby office is conveniently connected and located next to the Metrotown Skytrain Station.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Lead multidisciplinary teams to undertake design of water and/or wastewater treatment systems and pump stations.
- Manage and supervise engineers and technical staff to ensure that the projects' needs are met in a timely and effective manner.
- Perform complex engineering design tasks for water and/or wastewater related projects including engineering calculations, engineering drawings, engineering reports, client presentations and required applications to regulatory and/or funding agencies.
- Contribute to proposals and engage in business development.
- Liaise with clients and other consultants.
- Prepare economic analysis for water and/or wastewater treatment projects.
- Prepare construction specifications, tender documents, and applications for approvals.
- Manage project schedule and budget.
- Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own products and facilitates independent technical review of projects.
- Review contractor/vendor submittals for adherence to Contract Documents and industry standards.
- Assist with the management of the design and construction of projects.
- Involved in the permitting process of projects, which may require meeting with clients, contractors, interested stakeholder parties, reviewing agency personnel.
- Coordinate with the regulatory review to seek final approval.
- Assists in the development and updates of project design standards and guidelines.
- Prepares abstracts and technical papers for presentation at local, national, and international conferences.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Strong proven leadership skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to perform hydraulic calculations.
- General understanding of all phases of project documentation production, client procurement procedures and regulatory approval processes.
- Ability to participate and collaborate in project issues with clients, contractors, equipment suppliers/vendors, funding agencies and reviewing agencies, to deliver technical presentation in public forums in conferences and technical symposia.
- Possesses excellent time-management skills, thorough understand go task assignment and schedule, budgeting and efficient use of time and available resources.
- Understanding of local and regional jurisdictional codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.
- Experience in providing construction support services, such as change in field conditions, resolution, representing agencies at field meetings and observation of construction.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Civil/Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution. Master's degree preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite and Adobe, Biowin, WaterPro, and/or IFT Fathom experience is preferred.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in British Columbia or in another Province. International applicants must be able to obtain a P.Eng in British Columbia within one year.
Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for extended periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
