About the role
Our established Mackay geotechnical team is looking for an experienced Senior Soil Technician with knowledge within the soil, aggregate and rock testing sector, as well as associated laboratory quality management, to join us on a permanent basis. This role will see you provide high-level technical assistance of laboratory testing services and laboratory quality management within Stantec Queensland Geosciences team.
Successful candidates will be developed in a professional and personal sense and provided with an opportunity to forge a challenging and rewarding career path in a successful consultancy. An exciting opportunity exists at our specialist materials testing laboratory located in Mackay. The successful candidate will also receive direct support from our existing Laboratory Manager, Queensland engineering team including RPEQ engineers, geologists and scientists. Our laboratory team, consisting of 10+ technicians, undertake testing an inspection for a wide variety of clients including government, mining and the private sector including international clients in the south Pacific. The role will be based in Mackay and will require occasional travel to fulfil inspection and auditing activities for annex laboratories and client meetings. We are offering a fulltime permanent position with flexible working arrangements.
Day to day tasks would involve:
· Laboratory quality management
· Coordinate projects from start to finish within budget and on time
· Collect, prepare & perform complex sample testing analysis
· Produce & review clear and concise written test reports
· Manage, lead and mentor the junior laboratory team
· Calibration checks
To be successful for this role you'll need:
· Min. Certificate IV level qualifications in the geotechnical field or laboratory management techniques
· Proven experience with a strong background in the laboratory quality management
· Ability to multitask and work over a broad spectrum of projects
· Manual Driving Licence
· Familiar with relevant Australian Standards and construction materials testing
· Radiation licence (preferred, not necessary)
