Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Strong requisite knowledge and application of structural design codes, standards, and applicable building codes.
- Experience with design of hydraulic structures.
- Strong knowledge of structural systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards
- Requires heavy civil construction field experience, including overseeing construction of water/wastewater infrastructure projects, directing and collaborating with contractors and making critical decisions.
- General understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications
- Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule
- Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought
- Thorough understanding of structural engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others
- Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with Revit and AutoCAD software considered an asset
- Experience using structural engineering/finite element analysis software.
- Experience with CSI suite of programs (SAP, ETABS, SAFE) considered an asset.
Education and Experience
- Minimum 10 - 15 years’ experience with structural design and construction of reinforced concrete steel & masonry design (concrete blocks, aux buildings, riser structures, and heavy concrete structures)
- Experience with structural design of large water retaining structures, pumping stations, tanks, water/wastewater facilities & dams considered an asset.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Structural Engineering or related field
- Licensed Professional Engineer, or eligible to become licensed, in Alberta, US Professional Engineer (PE) designation considered an asset.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
