Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Knowledge and experience with environmental assessments, environmental impact studies, and natural heritage policies in Ontario especially regarding vegetation, wildlife and wildlife habitat
  • Knowledge of current provincial and federal government regulatory requirements, including applied experience with various regulators such as Environment and Climate Change Canada, the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry and various Conservation Authorities and municipalities
  • Experience in business development, working with and guiding clients, and proposal writing
  • Experience liaising with industry clients, government agencies, regulatory bodies and the public
  • Experience leading baseline studies, planning, design, construction, monitoring and compliance of various infrastructure and linear feature projects (e.g., transportation, oil & gas, urban land development), including pre- and post-construction monitoring 
  • Experience coordinating terrestrial field programs, and guiding staff in data management, data analysis and report preparation 
  • Experience preparing applications for authorization under the federal Species at Risk Act, and/or the provincial Endangered Species Act or other legislation
  • Strong senior technical review skills
  • Proven technical communication, writing and organization skills, including demonstrated experience preparing technical reports
  • Strong project management skills
  • Able to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment
  • Thrives in an environment with diverse and dynamic projects, and enjoys working on multi-disciplinary scopes of work
  • Valid driver’s licence

Additional Assets:

  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary projects
  • Expertise related to statistical analysis
  • Peer reviewed publication(s) in a related field
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities
  • Experience engaging with the public 
  • Certification or experience applying Ecological Land Classification in Ontario
  • Certification or experience applying the Ontario Wetland Evaluation System
  • Experience applying the Significant Wildlife Habitat Technical Guide and Ecoregion Criteria Schedules

Education and Experience

A Bachelor’s degree or technological diploma in Ecology, Biology, Zoology or Environmental Sciences is required; a Master’s degree is preferred
10 years of industry experience, with at least 2 years at a senior level in environmental consulting
