Your Opportunity
We are seeking a Construction Inspector to join our team. You will be responsible for quantifying the work in place and delivery recording in accordance with the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) State and Federal Funding Requirements.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Prepares daily reports for active construction contracts and issues Contract Deficiency Reports including the follow-up on required corrective actions including inspection of same.
- Observing, acting and reporting on any contractual and non-contractual infractions of Site Construction Activities.
- Coordinates, special inspection of structural, civil, and plumbing and electrical disciplines, as required for the type of construction work.
- Liaises between the Contractor, client staff, utility companies, local municipalities, and other external agencies.
- Preparation and submission of all required reports on a timely basis.
- Participation in project meetings as required.
- Completion of other related duties as required in support of the project.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Familiar with NJDOT Forms and Reporting.
- Familiar with NJDOT Design Requirements and Specifications.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills.
- Proficient at reading drawings and schematics.
- Ability to monitor and control progress of construction activities against the Contract Baseline for schedule and cost.
- Must acquire a Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) certification if elected as a worker member of the JHSC.
Education and Experience
- Minimum three to five years’ experience in NJDOT field inspection and management of Site construction work.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Design and or Construction Engineering/Management or a technical school diploma/certificate in a related program with equivalent experience to perform the primary functions of the role.
Position will primarily require field work which may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
