Your Opportunity
The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of major transportation design build projects across North America for large and mid-size construction. This role will provide technical support to our design managers including roadway and utility design, construction phasing analysis, and coordination with other technical teams. The position entails a hybrid work model, combining remote and in-office duties, with occasional regional and national travel.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to initiatives to help advance our project design, operations, and business development.
- Work with multi-disciplinary teams on major alternative project delivery (APD) projects from positioning to proposals, planning studies, feasibility through final designs, and construction services.
- Assist in performing engineering calculations related to roadway design, utility systems, and quantity estimating.
- Utilize software including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or Revit, and/or Open Roads and other Bentley products to assist in the creation of detailed design drawings, plans, and specifications for civil engineering projects, including site development, grading, and drainage systems.
- Review construction drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with design standards and regulatory requirements.
- Provide on-site support during construction activities, including monitoring progress, reviewing submittals, and addressing field changes.
- Work in a manner to protect the health and safety of Stantec employees, clients, and the public by following company health, safety and security guidelines and policies.
- Maintain and enhance our reputation with clients, approval agencies and industry professionals as an outstanding service provider.
- May be assigned to multiple projects simultaneously.
- Lead by example with active support of internal policies and practices, including risk management, project management, and quality management.
- Grow internal and external networks to enhance Stantec reputation and identify additional talent to join our team.
- Engage in professional development activities such as attending workshops, seminars, and training sessions to enhance technical skills and stay updated on industry trends.
- Establish, maintain, and promote partnerships in project pursuits.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Strong work ethic and desire to contribute to some of North America’s largest and most complex projects.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, with clients and colleagues in a dynamic and energetic environment.
- Proficiency in either Autodesk Civil3D or Bentley Open Roads is required, with the ability and desire to cross train on multiple 3D platforms. Experience with other design software such as Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Navisworks, or the Bentely Design Suite is a plus.
- The ability to quickly learn and adapt to new situations, technologies, and working environments.
- Strong technical background with an aptitude for identifying, analyzing, and resolving technical challenges and issues encountered during the design, construction, or maintenance phases of projects.
- Effective organization and prioritization skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently, meet deadlines, and maintain productivity in a hybrid work setting.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment while achieving common goals both in-person and virtually.
- Ability to perform field work, both periodic and long-term, to assist the delivery of major infrastructure projects.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
- Engineer Intern (EI) or Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification, or ability and willingness to obtain within 12 months from date of hire
- Lean Design & Construction experience is plus.
- Previous co-op/Internship experience preferred.
