Your Opportunity
The role of a Structural Engineer is to work as an integrated team member on a variety of bridge and structural projects. The successful candidate will serve in a technical role as part of an overall design team or squad for both highway and rail projects and will be responsible for performing simple and complex design and structural analysis assignments. Work will be performed both independently and under the guidance of a Senior Bridge Engineer on complex assignments. Your duties will be to perform, manage, and support projects including assembling detailed design packages, plan set preparation, and writing construction specification packages for structures such as bridges, culverts, retaining walls, foundations, and other transportation related infrastructure for pedestrian, vehicular, and railroad uses.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Application of advanced structural engineering principles to provide engineering solutions for assessment, evaluation, design, rehabilitation, and strengthening of bridges and other transportation structures
- Managing the bridge or structural tasks for multi-discipline projects, consisting of developing structure rehabilitation or replacement strategies, completing structural analysis, design for a variety of transportation structures, and preparing contract documents, specifications and reports
- Assists team in preparing construction contract documents, plans and reports
- Conducts advanced interpretations and quality reviews of drawings, codes, and other similar materials
- Performs basic and more advanced calculations and structural analysis/modeling using company standard software and/or proprietary manufacturer software
- Assists with engineering duties on projects of various levels of complexity
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Advanced understanding of most relevant structural design, load rating, and analysis concepts and methods
- Proven experience with structural design and load rating software such as AASHTOWare, BRASS, CSiBridge, LEAP Software, SAP2000, Larsa 4D, LPile, MDX, Midas, and others
- Must have a solid understanding of and practical experience applying the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and AASHTO Manual for Bridge Evaluation
- Ability to use MicroStation preferred and proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite and Mathcad
- Assessment and validation of software calculation results
- Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, to engage in creative and critical thought, and to effectively communicate concepts and ideas to others; previous Design-Build project experience is a plus
- Be a detailed oriented and highly organized individual that can demonstrate the initiative and commitment to a final professional product for clients
- Self-motivated person with strong written and verbal communication skills
Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master of Science (MS) degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
- PE license required or ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months
- Must have a minimum of 4 years of bridge and/or structural design experience
- CDOT, ADOT, NDOT, NMDOT, UDOT, WSDOT, and/or Caltrans experience is preferred
- Proven design and project delivery experience
- Demonstrate ownership, initiative, and attention to detail and accuracy
- Proven ability to deliver a wide variety of project scopes on time and budget
- Valid drives license required
Position will primarily require work in an office setting; short term travel may be required on an occasional basis to perform field investigations or site visits. Typical office environment includes working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
