Stantec’s New England Transportation group is looking for a Structural Engineer- EIT in Massachusetts!
Stantec is seeking a Structural Engineer, EIT to join our team of structural professionals servicing federal and state clients across the country, primarily throughout New England. This position would be based out of the Hingham, MA office, but you would be part of a larger New England transportation design team with offices in Burlington, MA; Boston, MA; Kittery, ME; and others across the country. The waterfront structures group consists of about 10 staff with varied experience and project backgrounds; we lead and support projects across the United States and support international offices.
What Will You Be Doing?
As a Structural Engineer- EIT, you will be a team member on small and large projects under the guidance of a Senior Engineer
Specific responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Prepare design calculations and use engineering software to design and develop details for various structures.
- Review contractor submittals for projects in construction.
- Produce contract drawings using AutoCAD (basic, Civil 3D and Revit).
- Perform field inspections and construction inspections.
- Shadow a Professional Engineer to learn how to conduct field surveys, perform structure condition inspections, and support construction activities at project sites.
What Will You Need to Succeed?
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field with a concentration in structural. Master’s degree in Structural Engineering preferred.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) preferred.
- Consistently execute safe work practices and work plans while completing field and office work.
- Work in a team environment while contributing to quality designs and construction contract documents: plans, specifications, and estimates.
- Design of waterfront structures and associated facilities in accordance with applicable design codes; concrete and steel structures; shallow and deep foundations; bulkheads and wharves; retaining walls; etc.
- Entry-level position is for an individual that understands structural and civil engineering design fundamentals from education, internship, co-op, or other work experience.
- Computer skills. Auto-CAD, Revit, Mathcad, preferred.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Proactive attitude, attention to detail, desire to learn, punctual, and organized.
- Ability to work independently when required.
This position will primarily be in an office setting; may require some field work, some of which may be performed from a boat. The ability to work some from home will be extended to the candidate once in-office working relationships are established.
