Your Key Responsibilities
The role of a Structural EIT is to work independently on smaller projects, and as a team member of a larger projects under the guidance of a Senior Structural Engineer. The Structural EIT will be able to perform structural analysis, design and detailing of steel, concrete, masonry, and timber structures. Additional responsibilities include:
- Perform structural calculations and analysis of buildings and other structures
- Interpret drawings, building codes, and other similar materials
- Collect data and gather information to support design decisions
- Prepare technical drawings and documentation
- Work with architectural, interior, and other engineering disciplines in the coordination of project tasks
- Perform Construction Administration duties including completing field observations reports, responding to RFIs, submittal reviews, and evaluating contractor change orders
- Participate in project meetings, communicate design issues and solutions with the design team
- Develop an understanding of industry standard design processes and construction means and methods
- Assist with development of design standards
- Contribute to structural embodied carbon assessments
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thinking
- Thorough understanding of structural engineering concepts
- Ability to effectively communicate ideas and concepts both verbally and in writing
- Experience with structural design and documentation from prior internships or coursework
- Basic knowledge and understanding of structural building codes and requirements
- Requires proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with Revit and other 3D modelling software is preferred
- Familiarity with structural design software such as Enercalc, RISA, RAM, SAP/ETABS is preferred
- Knowledge of visual programming and coding is a plus
- Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record
Education and Experience
- 0 – 3 years of related professional experience
- Master’s degree in civil, structural, or architectural engineering with an emphasis in structures is required
- NCEES EIT is required
- Experience with earthquake engineering seismic design is required
- Prior internship experience at an engineering related firm is preferred
