Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking an experienced Survey Project Manager, to join the Survey & Mapping team in Tampa, Florida. In this role you will perform public record research and calculations to resolve property boundaries and rights of way; review survey technician’s work and serve as project manager on various sized survey projects. You will also assist in crew scheduling for multiple crews and help prepare crews for their field work. You will assist and/or prepare construction staking calculations and reports as needed. You may be required to work in the field on occasion and make sure equipment is maintained, repaired and calibrated as needed.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing the accuracy of field survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.
- Performs complex quality control (QA/QC) of drawings/documents.
- Manages the activities of field crews, including providing job assignments, information, direction, and daily checking of work product.
- Directs and conducts surveys for clients.
- Leads and is responsible for a functional area without having any subordinate employees.
- Uses broad technical knowledge to identify hazardous situations and directs safety procedures and company standards.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Demonstrates expert knowledge and understanding of project requirements, including budget, design requirements, and complete project submittal.
- Excels at assembling and leading teams.
- Broad technical knowledge and understanding of field survey methods, calculations, field instrumentation, GPS, and robotic total stations.
- Broad technical knowledge of local survey laws, rules, and regulations.
- Proficient in relevant software programs including AutoCAD Civil3D, Trimble Business Center, and related software.
Education and Experience
- Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 4+ years of relevant experience is preferred.
- Currently licensed PLS/PSM in Florida or ability to become licensed in 2 years.
- Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work.
