Your Opportunity

Stantec’s Survey and Geospatial group has an opportunity for a Survey Technician in Honolulu, HI. The ideal candidate must work well in a team environment and have the drive and ability to adapt. Under the supervision of Senior Staff, you will perform surveying, mapping, and data collection activities.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for safe operation and maintenance of vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Keeps inventory of survey supplies and equipment.
  • Participates as survey crew member to perform various field surveys and office activities.
  • Keeps and maintains survey field notes for each survey task. 
  • Verifies the accuracy of field survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites. 
  • Produces basic CAD drawings on assigned projects including boundary, construction, topographic, and land title surveys.
  • Reviews and processes the results of field surveys, including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land features. 
  • Research survey records, land titles, civil plans, and construction documents to obtain information about property boundaries and areas to be surveyed. 
  • Prepares data, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents related to surveys and construction layout. 
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
  • May be required to drive company or personal vehicle to reach jobsites. 
     

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Working knowledge of field survey methods and calculations. 
  • Understanding of survey field instrumentation, GPS, and robotic total stations. 
  • Good cooperative skills in working efficiently with a team.  
  • Working knowledge of CAD standards and relevant software programs including AutoCAD Cilvil3D, Trimble Business Center, and related software.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required. 
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Capable of interisland travel.

Education and Experience

LSIT/Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent is recommended but not required.
Minimum 2 years of land surveying or related experience recommended.

Position will likely work in equal parts field and office. Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
