With the rapid deployment of 5G technology, cellular carriers’ installations are becoming increasingly unique. Radios, antennas, fiber routing, power requirements, stealth structures, and jurisdictional requirements are ever changing. Design teams must coordinate between engineers, CAD drafters, site acquisition staff, client deployment leads, construction managers, and jurisdictional requirements to ensure the carrier’s intentions can be met with minimal interruption to schedule and budget.

Your Opportunity

Stantec’s Telecom team is currently offering exciting opportunities for Telecom Designers to work on a variety of projects related to engineering and design of Telecom systems for Wireless Carriers and Infrastructure providers throughout North America. They will work under supervision of senior engineers within a multi-disciplinary team to develop efficient and reliable Telecommunication systems. They will coordinate the planning and design activities to maintain project schedules and ensure successful project completion.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Develop design/drawings for Telecom projects involving Towers, Rooftops, Small Cell/DAS, CRAN, fiber optic networks,
  • Prepare CAD Drawings for construction and permitting
  • Conduct field investigations to gather existing conditions and develop design solutions.
  • Prepare technical specifications for the installation of telecommunication infrastructure.
  • Coordinate and support all installation and commissioning activities for the successful implementation of the design infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines such as Architectural, Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical throughout the design process.
  • Provide study reports outlining alternatives, cost estimates and recommending solutions for various telecommunication requirements.
  • Other duties/responsibilities as assigned.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Excellent computer skills with MS Office; proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and MicroStation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of operation and design of substation P&C and SCADA systems.
  • Excellent communication skills in the English language, both written and verbal, particularly the ability to write complex technical documents and communicate with complex technical matters to technical and non-technical audience.
  • Efficient Architectural, Electrical & Civil drafting skills.
  • A valid BC Class 5 driver’s license (or equivalent) with a good driving record. 

Education and Experience

  • Diploma in drafting and design, with experience win Architectural, Civil, Mechanical and Electrical projects.  Coursework in the following areas is a plus
