Your Capabilities and Credentials
- General understanding of Class I Railway design for mainline, yards, industrial tracks, intermodal and transload facilities, special trackwork; ballasted and non-ballasted track, earthwork/grading, and associated grading and drainage
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and meet deadlines and budget targets
- Ability to work independently or within a team on projects and communicate potential issues with respect to scheduling, budget, or progress
- Ability to manage multiple tasks at once
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong work ethic and ability to self-motivate
- Ability to prioritize tasks and remain focused with strong attention to detail
- Willingness to travel as needed for project or client’s needs
- Ability to work a non-standard work week when necessary
- Strong desire to learn and progress in the rail industry
Education and Experience
- Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized and accredited college or university
- Preferably 3 or more years’ experience in engineering consulting
- Experience with railroad/transportation/roadway design projects, site development, and/or permitting
- Experience preparing project calculations and deliverables
- Experience with MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bluebeam, Word, Excel, and/or PowerPoint and applying/developing CAD standards
