Our Opportunity
Our Transportation Smart(ER) Mobility team in Lake Mary, Florida is growing based on recent project wins and is looking for a full-time, entry-level transportation engineer to join the team! The Lake Mary team currently consists of one senior and one mid-level engineer who are passionate about traffic and safety engineering and are excited to provide mentorship to new problem solvers.
Your Key Responsibilities
As an entry-level engineer, you will build foundational skills in data preparation, analysis, and presentation, and effective communication, time management, and critical thinking and problem-solving skills for transportation planning and engineering projects of varying size and complexity. Typical projects include:
- Transportation impact assessments;
- Access, circulation, and parking studies;
- Safety action planning; and,
- Safety engineering studies and conceptual design.
Major components of these projects include:
- Traffic forecasting;
- Traffic operations analysis;
- Safety network screening, site diagnosis, countermeasure selection, and economic appraisal, using historical, predictive, and systemic safety analysis methods;
- Field reviews;
- Concept development, including signing, striping, signalization, and channelization elements based on State (FDOT) and Federal (FHWA) standards and guidance; and,
- Development of technical documentation, including graphics, in memorandums, reports, and presentations.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Minimum Qualifications
- Highly motivated individual with genuine curiosity for traffic and safety engineering and planning
- Engineer Intern (EI) or Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification, or ability and willingness to obtain within 12 months from date of hire
- Novice to intermediate experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications

- Fundamental to novice experience with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), Highway Capacity Manual (HCM), and Highway Safety Manual (HSM)
- Fundamental to novice experience with Synchro and ArcGIS
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited institution by date of hire
