Each traffic station will have two (2) attendants on day shift and two (2) attendants on night shift. The traffic station will remain open and staffed for the duration of the project. 


The traffic station is the only entrance to the project site and all personnel must pass through the traffic station. Attendants will complete site orientations, distribute radios, and keep the traffic station and washroom facility clean. They will input road use tracking and other information into a database. Workers will document all vehicles and their occupants, as they enter or exit the project roads. They will monitor radio channels throughout the day and will enforce all road rules and keep the traffic station safe and clean. 

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Independently perform traffic station attendant duties which will include site orientations, road use tracking, journey management, mobile radio distribution and general housekeeping.

  • Interface with various road users in a professional and courteous manner.

  • Working closely with other traffic station attendants and project managers who will provide guidance and support.

  • Perform some physically demanding tasks in a safe and efficient manner.  

  • Responsible for safe operation and maintenance of the traffic station and support equipment.

  • Support Stantec and the client’s safety management system

  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned. 

Work Conditions


The traffic station is in a remote rural area, the hours are long (12 hour shifts and shift duration could be as long as 20 days with approximately 6 days off plus the drive to and from the station) and often you will have to work under pressure.  Attendants will require patience and the ability to get along with other people. Attendants will spend long hours working with just the other attendant on shift, so you must be tolerant and respectful to each other.

 

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Demonstrates proficiency working with other field employees.
  • Solid background in complying with safety management systems.  
  • Credible industry experience suitable for carrying out work related to construction projects, particularly in the mineral resource industry.

Education and Experience

 

Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Standard First Aid training and Construction Safety Training or Petroleum Safety Training or Common Safety Orientation

 

 

Position will work in a field setting. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Must be available to travel for out of town projects when needed. 

 

A minimum of 1 years of construction program experience on a wide range of projects, preferably with a construction firm and/or as an owner’s representative.
