Traffic/ Transport Engineer
About the role
Our Transport Planning and Advisory team partners with its clients to provide traffic and transport solutions for the community and we currently seek a Transport Engineer to join our team based in Brisbane. You will be working as part of a dedicated transport team on a range of projects and will be responsible for providing accurate and efficient transport engineering services.
In this role you will be involved in planning and designing transport projects that focus on transportation systems and movement networks such as our local streets, urban development, major roads, road safety and all the modes of transport that may operate within. Working under the guidance of our Senior Engineers, you will provide technical input into creating our communities.
Day to day tasks would involve:
Undertake site inspections and gather base information on road environment, traffic and road safety observation, parking inventories and facilities etc.
Plan, supervise and conduct traffic and parking surveys.
Prepare and administer questionnaires.
Prepare engineering and planning documents by developing traffic models, traffic impact assessments, road safety audits, reports, plans and schedules.
Assess and provide design advice for intersection and parking layouts, including spaces, aisles and grades.
Obtain and assess crash data.
Undertake road safety assessments.
To be successful for this role you'll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related discipline
- 2 years’ experience working within a traffic engineering capacity and familiarity with appropriate software such as SIDRA.
- Experience of working in a consulting environment in a similar role.
- A good working knowledge of best practice standards, guidelines, current trends and legislation in order to deliver innovative and practical traffic and transport solutions.
- Excellent communication skills to strongly, confidently and succinctly present traffic and transport issues and results of analysis to a wide audience.
