About the role:
You will bring solid technical capability to a diverse portfolio of transport planning projects, including investment and business cases for capital and service improvements, system and network planning, and transport strategy, policy and research projects. Your work directly informs client decision-making, while building strong working relationships and supporting opportunities to grow our presence in the sector.
You will take ownership of defined workstreams and, where appropriate, lead smaller projects, supporting delivery across programme, budget, technical quality and client expectations. You will work closely with experienced Project Managers and Technical Leads, gaining exposure to a wide range of projects and approaches.
You will be part of a constructive and collaborative team environment where diverse thinking and new ideas are encouraged, and where you will have the opportunity to develop your technical capability and grow your career.
Day-to-day responsibilities will involve:
- Applying technical expertise across a range of transport planning projects, delivering quality analysis and advice to support investment and transport planning decisions.
- Supporting the delivery of investment planning studies, contributing technical input and working alongside senior staff to develop robust outcomes.
- Applying and developing skills across transport planning disciplines such as investment case development, economic evaluation, modelling, public transport, active transport, asset management and strategic transport planning.
- Managing and coordinating project tasks, or supporting Project Managers and Technical Leads, to deliver smart and innovative outcomes that contribute to project objectives.
- Supporting the development of junior team members through day-to-day guidance, knowledge sharing and collaborative working.
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with clients including Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency, KiwiRail, local authorities and private sector clients to support project delivery and identify opportunities.
- Contributing to business development activities including preparing expressions of interest, proposals and supporting strategic marketing initiatives.
