Transport Planner
About the role
We are seeking a Transport Planner to join our dynamic Perth team, working on a range of exciting projects across WA. You will be responsible for complex problem solving, innovation, information analysis, report writing, and client engagement.
You will primarily work within the transport planning team in Perth and nationally, collaborating with some of Australia's leading traffic and transport experts. At Stantec, we offer a diverse and stimulating work environment with a passionate group of professionals. Your role will also involve cross-disciplinary collaboration with our transportation team, including engineering, design, and analytics.
Day to day tasks would involve:
Deliver transport planning and traffic engineering studies, including impact assessments and modelling.
Support and manage projects across land development, infrastructure and urban precincts.
Synthesise qualitative and quantitative evidence, combining data analysis with stakeholder insight and on-the-ground observation, to understand the full picture and shape well-rounded recommendations.
Undertake transport policy research and interpretation, including contributing to policies, guidelines and standards.
Prepare high-quality technical reports, proposals and client deliverables.
Liaise with clients, local authorities and multidisciplinary project teams.
Mentor junior team members and contribute to team growth.
To be successful for this role you'll need:
A relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Transport Planning or a similar field, or equivalent experience.
Minimum 5 years' experience in transport planning within a consulting environment.
Knowledge of traffic modelling and analysis tools such as SIDRA, VISSIM, VISUM or similar will be advantageous.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex datasets and synthesise qualitative and quantitative evidence.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage projects and build client relationships.
Membership of, or progress towards, a recognised professional body (such as AITPM, Engineers Australia or the Planning Institute of Australia) is viewed favourably.
We are flexible about the level of this appointment. While advertised as a Transport Planner, we are open to appointing at Senior Transport Planner level pending interview and technical assessment. Candidates who demonstrate deeper experience, such as leading project delivery, managing client relationships and profitability, leading bids, and taking senior ownership of studies and modelling, will have the role, title and remuneration tailored accordingly.
