Our Hamilton office is actively seeking a Transportation Engineering Coop student/Intern. Our group provides consulting services for Class Environmental Assessment, Preliminary Design, and Detail Design projects for public sector clients, including the Ministry of Transportation Ontario and several Ontario Southwest Regions and Municipalities.
Your Key Responsibilities
As a Transportation Engineering Co-op student/Intern in our Hamilton Transportation Group, you will be involved in the planning and design of provincial highways, interchanges, and local municipal roads and assisting our structural engineering group with the inspection and design of bridges. You will be responsible for assisting in the following areas:

- Preparing engineering drawings and plans using industry standard drafting principles;
- Documenting existing transportation conditions based on interpretation of survey plans and field reconnaissance;
- Identifying existing transportation deficiencies based on current design standards;
- Planning, preliminary design and detail design of transportation improvement projects; and
- Preparing content for reports and proposals.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- You are a self-motivated individual possessing strong written and verbal communication skills and demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy, and you work well in a team environment.
- You are proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Some working knowledge of transportation engineering related software such as AutoCad/Civil 3D/Inroads/OpenRoads is desirable.
Education and Experience
- As the ideal candidate you are an independent worker who is working towards a post-secondary degree in Civil Engineering.
- Similar summer work-term or co-op experience would be considered as a definite asset for this position.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
