Your Opportunity

Stantec is looking for a Transportation Planner / Traffic Engineer EIT with 2-5 years of transportation engineering or planning experience to join our multidisciplinary team based in the US. We believe training, collaboration, and connections are strengthened by working alongside team members. As such, this is a hybrid position with at least three days/week in the office recommended.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting in transportation planning studies, traffic impact studies, traffic operations analysis, crash analyses, and speed studies.
  • Assisting TPTE portions of Environmental Impact Assessments and Planning and Environmental Linkages studies in coordination with other disciplines.
  • Assisting traffic data collection programs and performing traffic data analysis.
  • Participating in iterative roadway design processes in coordination with roadway and structural engineers.
  • Producing materials for public outreach meetings and supporting visual communication of technical concepts for public consumption.
  • Performing microsimulation modeling and mesoscopic modeling and integrating results into final recommendations.
  • Writing technical memoranda and reports.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Understanding of TPTE principles and best practices.
  • Familiarity with TPTE standards, codes, and requirements.
  • Familiarity with National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA) studies, guidelines, and requirements is a plus.
  • Experience with traffic analysis tools like Synchro and HCS.
  • Experience with VISSIM, ArcGIS, or Adobe Illustrator is a plus.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to interpret technical findings and share them with general audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Familiarity with standard business software (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning, City and Regional Planning, Operations Research, or related discipline.
  • Engineering in Training License (EIT) or passed FE exam.
  • Minimum 2 years’ work experience in transportation engineering or planning.
