Stantec’s Burlington, VT Airports group is looking for an intern for Summer 2025!
We are looking for an individual that is passionate about improving our communities through the thoughtful planning and design of transportation systems and infrastructure. This person will learn about aviation design and planning, FAA Orders and Advisory Circulars (AC), UFC requirements, and local agency requirements. This role is an exciting opportunity for an individual looking to work collaboratively as part of a project team and gain a better understanding of the project development process for transportation projects of varying scale and complexity.
This advanced internship is assigned to projects taking place at the Patrick Leahy Burlington International Airport with the work being performed within the secure airfield areas of the airport.
What Will You Be Doing?
Specific responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Will include field work observing and documenting daily construction activities, reviewing construction plans and technical specifications, field measuring constructed material quantities, reviewing materials quality analysis reports.
- May assist project teams and administrative staff by preparing or compiling studies, memos, reports, spreadsheets and graphs, drawings, calculations, research and other tasks in support of various aviation transportation projects.
- May assist project managers with tasks designed to understand the project management process and internal frameworks.
- Other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned to support the team.
What Will You Need to Succeed?
- Willingness to perform field work is required.
- Willingness to perform nighttime work is required.
- Will require background check and airport specific driver training.
- Must be a college student working towards a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Must have good organizational and time management skills, be punctual, reliable, detail oriented, and capable of taking initiative and working independently when needed.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills in both office and virtual environments.
- Microsoft Office experience required.
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D, MicroStation and/or OpenRoads Designer, ArcGIS, and/or Adobe Creative Suite software is a plus.
- Previous internship or co-op experience in similar type work or office environment is a plus.
